OYO's journey hasn't been without challenges. The company faced significant losses, high-profile disputes, and quality concerns that sometimes overshadowed their growth story. However, their recent turnaround tells a different tale: FY24 revenue of ₹5,540 crore and a net profit of ₹623 crore in FY25—marking their first profitable year.


The September 2024 acquisition of Motel 6 for $525 million represents more than just expansion into North America—it's proof that OYO has matured from a cash-burning startup into a profitable, acquisition-capable hospitality company.


Global Impact


Today, OYO operates 157,000+ properties with 1 million rooms, serves 100 million app users, and maintains 9.2 million loyalty members. With 3,500 corporate clients and a presence across continents, they've proven that Indian startups can build truly global brands.

While user experiences remain mixed—with some praising the standardization and others criticizing quality inconsistencies—OYO's impact on democratizing travel accommodation is undeniable. They've made budget travel accessible to millions while providing technology and standards to thousands of independent hotel owners worldwide.
