Dr. Namrata Shetty is a visionary in the field of dentistry who has successfully diversified her career beyond being a respected practitioner. She is what they call a dual careerist, being not just a successful dental surgeon but also an accomplished freelance copywriter and entrepreneur.
Born and raised in Pimpri, Pune, Maharashtra, she comes from a humble background where education was highly valued. With persistence and her parents' support, she became a first-generation dentist, bringing pride to her family.

Being a new mother, her entrepreneurial journey was presumed to be rough and challenging, but owing to her free-thinking spirit, she provided a rather thought-provoking perspective on pregnancy. “Pregnancy is a kind of entrepreneurship in itself”. Such a nuanced take on something as complex and perplexing a journey as being a new mother gives us a fresh perspective on the interconnectedness between being a new mother and an amateur entrepreneur.
The Beginning: Navigating Societal Expectations
Being a middle-class girl, she never felt like she had a choice in what she wished to study and pursue. She was always a keen learner and creative in her ways, but life had other plans for her. Her life, in her opinion, was mapped out by societal expectations- as is often the case- and she pursued a PCMB in order to become an acclaimed medical professional. After dedicated efforts to make her footing in dentistry, she earned her dental degree. She has continued to excel as a dental surgeon and has delivered exceptional results to her patients for the past 7.5 years.
Seeking Balance: Going Beyond Dentistry
Although she thrived in her dental practice, Dr. Shetty found the long working hours, averaging 10 hours a day, restrictive for her creative and professional growth. Her desire for a better work-life balance led her to explore new avenues. She started skill-building in domains such as HRM, writing and entrepreneurship, reflecting her belief in the importance of a work-life balance.
Building on a Strong Foundation: Dr. Shetty’s Gratitude for SEB
Just as she was looking to broaden her avenues, she came across an ad on Instagram about the Student Entrepreneurship Bootcamp. This piqued her interest and she decided to join the sessions to gain knowledge and experience as an aspiring entrepreneur.
Dr. Shetty gained an excellent foundation in design thinking, research and HRM and found the sessions exceptionally insightful. She remains grateful for the support and guidance provided on a one-to-one basis. She affirms that this is a good place to start one’s entrepreneurial journey. Our mentors have continued to guide her post the completion of the first cohort and will continue to do so.
Empowering India’s Future: A Visionary Approach to Entrepreneurship
When it comes to her entrepreneurial journey, she is driven by compelling and heartwarming visions for her own dental practice. “Having a business is the future of India”, she asserts, reflecting her optimism about the impact of entrepreneurs on India’s development. She believes in the ideals of Viksit Bharat@2047 and as a hard-working and patriotic citizen, she wishes to contribute to job creation in the country and create opportunities not just for licensed practitioners, but also for those from lesser privileged backgrounds.
“I want to give back to those who didn’t have the opportunities that we did”, and we believe that this statement is testament to her patriotic and humanitarian nature as an entrepreneur. She is an exemplary individual who does not want a lot to take, but definitely has much to give.
