Introduction to Digit Insurance
Within India's fast-changing insurance industry, where conventional formats are being replaced by digital-first methodologies, Digit Insurance has been a game-changer. Established in 2016 by Kamesh Goyal and Jasleen Kohli, Go Digit General Insurance Company Limited has revolutionized the way Indians think about, buy, and claim insurance products.
What started with a dream to make insurance processes simpler has turned into India's fastest-growing digital-first general insurance firm, having served over 3 crore customers, driven by a mission that's delightfully straightforward: "To Make Insurance Simple."

The Challenges of Digit Insurance
Insurance in India was once a feared term — equated with reams of fine print, rigid policies, and torturous claims experiences. Customers would joke they needed insurance to comprehend their insurance!
In 2016, Kamesh Goyal and Jasleen Kohli decided to rewrite this history. They founded Digit Insurance with a mission: Make Insurance Simple.
Strategic Growth
Day one, Digit was dedicated to cracking jargon, eliminating stealthy clauses, and using technology to settle claims quicker than ever. No more endless forms and uncertain coverage — Digit provided transparent policies, equitable terms, and immediate support.
Their portfolio expanded rapidly to include every significant requirement:
Health Insurance with no capping of room rent and claim-free bonuses
Motor Insurance with cashless garages and instant digital claims
Travel Insurance protecting against disruptions during trips
Commercial Vehicle and Home Insurance for total peace of mind
Beneath this ease of use was state-of-the-art technology: AI and machine learning accelerated risk evaluation and claim settlement. Cloud infrastructure lowered operating expenses by 40%, efficiencies that Digit transferred to consumers through affordable premiums.
Financial Performance
The figures were breathtaking. By FY23–24, Digit had achieved ₹5,164 crore in revenue with a healthy profit of ₹338 crore. They had served more than 3 crore customers, cleared 94% of claims, and created a financial fortress with premiums of ₹8,234 crore and strong investment income.
Investors also adored the model — with big guns such as Fairfax Holdings, Faering Capital, and Peak XV Partners investing more than $478 million, putting Digit in the running to become a unicorn and listing for a $4.5–5 billion IPO.
Institution Support and Future Prospects
But Digit never lost sight of its mission. While others drowned customers in clauses, Digit championed transparency, speedy claims, and customer delight — one reason why thousands switch to Digit each year, trusting it not just for paperwork, but for peace of mind when life throws a curveball.
Amidst India's huge, rapidly growing insurance market, Digit towers above — demonstrating that if trust, technology, and a customer-centric heart are combined, even insurance can become pleasantly uncomplicated.
