Clearing three levels of examinations for an auditing qualification is hard. Qualifying for an Apprenticeship in a PSU is harder. But, practicing as a freelance auditor, all by yourself, is the hardest. Yes! We're talking about the COVID era when Dileep completed his Apprenticeship at SAIL but was refused to be offered a full-time role due to the Pandemic.
So, wonder what you would do if your employer refused to take you in after a three years internship or probation when the pandemic struck? This is what happened with Dileep, a very intelligent, dedicated and sincere young student in Feb '20. However, Dileep didn't loose hope and started his practice in his father's garage by converting it into an office.
Initial Days Of Struggle
Dileep mailed multiple Directors, Promoters, Investors, Companies, SME's and Factories in and near Lucknow for employment opportunities or freelance works such as audits, drafting agreements, deeds, bonds and any others. However, due to the widespread panic across the country, he didn’t receive any prospects until December that year. When work finally did come, it was offered at one-fourth of the market rate, a stark reminder of the clients’ attempts to exploit professionals. Despite the despair of such exploitation, he clung to the hope that better opportunities were just around the corner while he served those clients.
Increasing Severity Of The Situation
Dileep spent next 2 years serving as an underpaid lawyer and auditor for various clients while he also enrolled with multiple banks and NBFC's as an agent selling insurance policies and stock options as a part-time errand. Dileep did manage to make ends meet by pouring 24/7 of his tireless efforts this way till he chanced upon an ad featuring one of our Conferences in Feb '23 and registered for it.
Dileep attended, participated and learnt various new business skills and facts in our Conferences while also building a robust network of prospective clients and mentors alongside. After six months of Conferences, Dileep registered for our Student Entrepreneurs Bootcamp in July that year after a careful evaluation and a prolonged discussion with our Associate Anjali.
The Student Entrepreneurs Bootcamp
As days passed, Dileep started learning new skills and approaches to build a clientele, promote his services, build his brand, incorporate companies, negotiate with clients, pitch and negotiate contracts with high-paying clients while providing high-quality services. Throughout the Bootcamp, Dileep researched extensively on different niches of client to serve with stable and sustainable income sources.
At the end of the market research module, Dileep decided to target bollywood celebrities and related stakeholders for his services. He worked on building a range of premium services and designing his brochure in the design thinking module whilst also tested it on a young female model from South Delhi. Likewise, he ended up making a B-Plan for upcoming five years to scale and build his business in the auditing and legal services industry.
The Scene Today
Dileep might have struggled a lot in his initial years of practice, but now he works under the brand name of Dileep Dixit and Co. (a reputed auditing and legal services provider for bollywood celebrities). He only caters to 10 clients who are classified as HNI's for their high income levels and is happy being the auditor he always dreamt of being!
Today Dileep donates an impressive amount of sum to sponsor charity events in Lucknow and Allahabad as a sign of goodwill to the mentorship, support and guidance SK A&G provided him with. Dileep believes that a well doing man must always give back to the society whatever he has in plenty, just like Shravan did.
